Resilient Livelihoods meeting on Burns Night 26 Jan 2011

This was an excellent first meeting and we surfaced a lot of brilliant opportunities and got a sense of some of the major challenges too. We agreed that establishing social enterprises to deliver products and services that increase community resilence resilience is a good way to make Transition a reality in Ipswich. We discussed a few great new ideas in the areas of food, transport, energy and housing and will be looking into these further as we develop TI’s RL theme.

One near-term prospect is our latest human powered vehicle (HPV) bid which has support from University Campus Suffolk, Suffolk New College, Eastern Enterprise Hub, Suffolk Chamber and other organisations.

TI is one of ten Transition initiatives selected to receive support from the Transition Network’s Reconomy project so it looks like our RL theme will grow stongly in 2011. John T and Dano are off to a 2 day “Reconomy” workshop in Totnes soon and it will be interesting to hear what they learn about Transition and social enterprise.

Share your views on the TI forum (click here if you need a login) and look out for details of the next RL meeting.
